AROUND THE CORNER
Journey of Connection | curated by Extended Reality Art (XRT)
Around the Corner (ATC) examines the fluid and evolving nature of collective memory. Far from being static, collective memory reflects shared perceptions shaped by individual experiences and cultural narratives over time. This artwork reconstructs fragments of iconic places into interactive digital spaces, making the process of memory formation tangible.
Serving as a participatory sandbox, the work invites viewers to engage with these digital environments, blending their own perceptions with the recreated atmosphere of a historical moment. Through this interaction, Around the Corner reveals how nostalgia forms and evolves, offering insight into the dynamic nature of shared memory.
Hong Kong Public Housing Estate
It is one of the most iconic features of Hong Kong, and their origins can be traced back to the Shek Kip Mei fire in 1953. Since then, more and more resettlement housing estates have been built, becoming the prototype for public housing estates in Hong Kong.
Over time, some of these public housing estates have aged and are constantly undergoing elimination or renovation due to changing needs and the dynamic nature of the city. Along with the changes in these public spaces, people come and go, leaving behind different memories and imbuing these places with rich and unforgettable stories
